During the 1980’s Glengarry Brahman Stud was founded with the purchase of a small number of females from the renowned Avondale, Bando and Lawes Brahman Studs. Then adding further quality matrons to the stud profile by purchasing several more females from the Burnside & De Park studs. The Y7X herd consists of 220 females, the top end of males are offered at sale during Rockhampton Brahman Week, the balance are sold to stud and commercial producers who are predominantly repeat clientele.
Geoff and Scott made a decision to infuse new bloodlines into the herd during the 1990’s; they did so by importing 4 bulls and 1 heifer from the USA. Recently a unique opportunity to purchase the entire herd of 52 “BE OS” females took place. These full Manso matrons are sired by 36 different U.S. bred sires. The maternal background of these females goes back to one matron, JDH Lady Manso 969 who has been successfully cloned. Those cows and their calves have certainly lived up to the high expectations of Scott & Geoff. This result further reiterates their belief that the Australian Brahman industry is well established and will continue with strong growth in the future.
